Christmas services

All are very welcome to our First Eucharist of Christmas, starting at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. This is a quiet, reflective service in contrast to the fun and giddiness of the Family Service at 10.30am on Christmas Day – come early to that one, to get a seat. There is also a service of Holy Communion at 8.15am on Christmas morning,

Christingle for all ages

No one is too sure what the word Christingle means, possibly Christ light, Christ fire or Christ child.  Its origins lie in the Moravian Church, which has its roots in what is now Germany and the Czech Republic, and the first recorded use of a Christingle in worship was in 1747.  Each aspect of a Christingle has a special meaning, pointing to an important truth about Christ. This very “hands on” service next Sunday, December 14th at 5.30pm in the parish centre is suitable for all the family.  Participants are invited to make their own Christingle using an orange, red sticker tape, cocktail sticks, fruit and sweets all topped off with a candle.  Everyone can bring their Christingle home after the service.
