St Paul’s cruise on the Shannon

Without wanting to wish the summer away, we are asking you to book now for a place on a parish autumn outing. A great trip has been organised for Saturday, September 17th, which will include a cruise on the River Shannon from Banagher to Shannonbridge, followed by a guided tour of Clonmacnoise (pictured above). Lunch stop over at Lukers Pub and Restaurant, Shannonbridge.

Choir to sing in St Patrick’s Cathedral

The St Paul’s choir will sing both the 11.15am and 3.15pm  services in St Patrick’s Cathedral this Sunday, July 3rd. Conducted by our director of music, Nathan Barrett, the choir was invited back after its first visit as a  “stand in” during the resident choir’s summer holidays last year (photographed below).The choir will be accompanied by Mathew Breen, now organist in St Patrick’s, Dalkey,  and some of the choir members there will be joining the St Paul’s choir for this occasion.
Meanwhile, the Summer Lunchtimes at St Paul’s series comes to a close this Thursday, June 30th with an organ recital by Matthew Breen. Coffee/tea from 1pm; music starts at 1.15pm. Admission free but retiring collection, if desired, in aid of the St Paul’s organ fund.

Talk on India in lunchtime series

Parishoner Professor Roger West of Trinity College Dublin will give a talk entitled “At Home in India” at the Summer Lunchtimes in St Paul’s series this Thursday, June 16th. It will be both a photographic and anecdotal portrait of how to feel comfortable in such a different country.
Coffee/tea served from 1pm; talk starts at 1.15pm. Admission free and retiring collection, if desired, to the St Paul’s Organ Fund.

St Patrick’s Cathedral choristers to open our summer lunchtime series

The free weekly Summer Lunchtime at St Paul’s series starts this Thursday, June 2nd, with a concert by the choristers of St Patrick’s Cathedral (pictured below). The performance will begin at 1.15pm. with coffee/tea served from 1pm.
The series runs every Thursday through June and July. Volunteers are needed to help with coffee/tea and to welcome visitors to our church. If you are free to help on one or two Thursdays, please contact  our director of music, Nathan Barrett at email barretna@tcd.ie or on 086 846 0658.

The St Patrick’s choristers’ concert in St Paul’s will be a taster for  their summer concert HALLELUJAH! in aid of the Cathedral Choir School on Friday, June 10th at 6.15 pm  in St Patrick’s. Summer Fair this Saturday, May 28th

The St Paul’s Summer Fair will be a great family day out  this Saturday, May 28th, 10.30am-2.30pm, admission €2, children free. A great variety of stalls, a Food Street, free entertainment, games, teas/coffees etc – in the church grounds, in the Parish Centre and in the church.
The Parish Centre is open for the delivery of items for all the various stalls this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 7pm-9pm.  Please contact Dominic Galvin (086 820 9645) or Mark Finney (087 284 4777) if you have any queries.

Countdown to Summer Fair

It is just under two weeks to go to our Summer Fair on Saturday, May 28th. Items for stalls (see full list at the bottom of this newsletter) can be delivered to the Parish Centre this Saturday, May 21st, 10am-1pm and then the following Wednesday-Friday evenings, 7pm-9pm.
Extra raffle tickets will be available at church this Sunday from the Church Wardens if parishioners need them, in addition to the four €5 books that were sent out with the Summer Fair booklet.

Choral and organ concert

The St Paul’s choir, conducted by Nathan Barrett, with Matthew Breen on the organ, will give a concert in the church this Friday, May 13th at 7.30pm. Admission free. The following weekend they are going “on tour” to sing in Derry  and Raphoe cathedrals.
Meanwhile, the St Paul’s  summer lunchtime series of cultural events is resuming this year, to run every Thursday during June and July. The line up for June is as follows:
