The choir have been invited to sing in a gala concert in St Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday April 28th at 7.30pm, with Nathan Barrett conducting and Matthew Breen accompanying on the organ.  The theme of the evening is the cathedral’s musical legacy (dating back to 1547!) and the choirs, soloists, organists, accompanists and many composers for the night have a link to the cathedral.  All proceeds of tickets (€20 adults, €10 children) will go towards supporting a new building for the cathedral school.
Tickets available after church during coffee this Sunday, April 24th, from Roger West or from rwest@tcd.ie.  The delightful musical programme will suit all tastes – please support this worthy effort if you can.

The new parish council, or Select Vestry, for 2016/17 was elected without a vote at yesterday’s parish AGM (Easter General Vestry). The members are:

The St Paul’s Annual General Meeting, known as the Easter General Vestry, will be held in the Parish Centre this Sunday, April 10th,  after a shortened 10.30am service of Parish Communion. There will be a chance to have tea/coffee before the meeting begins.

It’s time to start scouring your home for items surplus to requirements that could be donated to the Summer Fair, which takes place this year on Saturday, May 28th. Unwanted gifts, worn-only-once clothes, toys in good condition, all types of bottles,books, CDs and DVDs, are just some of the things on the “Wanted” list.
The hard-working Fair committee is always looking for new volunteers to come along and help, particularly putting up the tents and gazebos on the morning of the fair. In recognition of all the hard work a gourmet breakfast is served to all volunteers. This is a great way of meeting fellow parishioners and making a contribution to the Summer Fair which is so important to the financial health of the parish.

A group of Christian women in Cuba have prepared the interdenominational service to mark World Day of Prayer this Friday, March 4th. St Paul’s is hosting the local area service at 11am and all are welcome.

The Archbishop of Dublin will be in St Paul’s this Saturday, February 27th, to confirm 14 young people from St Paul’s and two from Holy Trinity, Killiney, in a service starting at 7pm. All are welcome.
The newly confirmed will be at the Parish Communion the following morning at 10.30am, where they will receive a presentation from the Rector on behalf of the parish.
After this service there will be a soup lunch in the Parish Centre, hosted by the Sunday Club, in aid of the Simon Community. All welcome.

A weekly Lenten Bible Study and Discussion Group, starts on Monday, February 15th in the Minor Hall (upstairs) of the Parish Centre at 8 pm. The programme is  based on Biblical Association for the Church of Ireland Lent Bible Study 2016 “Reconciliation”.  The first night’s theme is Power and service; Mon 22nd:  Transcending boundaries; Mon 29th: Reaching out to the other; Mar 7th: Taking down the walls; Mar 14th: Do as you would be done by.  Each session will last for approximately one hour and all are very welcome.
Meanwhile the extra midweek service of Holy Communion at 7.15am  during Lent continues this Wednesday, in addition to the 11am service.
